I knew I wanted to spend MLK Day somewhere peaceful, welcoming and beautiful. Days before I went to Hawaii, I was in NYC and accidentally dropped my Sony FX3. It has been my trusted camera for street photography for the past two years. Begrudgingly, I used my iPhone. I’ve not been a fan of the iPhone camera for a while. The strongest images were those converted to black & white.
I also brought my Minolta X700 35mm camera with me and shot on some very very old stock. I’ll post those at a later date.
I started this substack for those wanting to see my photos without having to engage on a social media platform. The goal is more images. Less words. Wish me luck.

Why does the iPhone camera fail so badly? I miss the way my photos used to look. And I miss my old Canon AE1, which was sacrificed to a tide pool in Kauai. May she rest in peace.
